It’s with considerable enthusiasm that the new academic year started on Monday 22nd February 2021 at BCU. In addition to the faculty of Theology which has been working since 2015, the university has now opened another new faculty – the Faculty of Arts, Administration and Communication. It is a great joy to have this long-awaited faculty opened. We are convinced that, in addition to the Theological faculty, this will help the University to work according to its vision.
The faculty of Theology presently has 6 new students and the Faculty of Arts, Administration and Communication so far 11 students.
The first day was marked by the visit of the Chancellor of the University, the Archbishop of Burundi, the Most Revd. Martin Blaise Nyaboho. He warmly welcomed and encouraged the new students. In the brief message he gave, the Chancellor mentioned the advantages of learning at BCU. The available resources will be able to cover students’ needs. Because of the class size, the learning will be easy and more fruitful to every individual student. He also reminded university staff and students that the university must work to promote science while upholding Christian ethics.
Students have been introduced to the use of computer and the University’s new Student Information System (SIS). There, every student was given an electronic account that will enhance communication and research at the university. Using their new account in the SIS, the new students then took a first English placement test online.
During this new academic year, local lecturers will give their lectures on campus. However, like in the previous year, lecturers who cannot be physically present at the campus have now the possibility to provide their lectures and exams entirely online.
Prayer requests:
- That we may have good quality internet.
- That we may get additional computers to improve online studies and can use other electronic tools.
Wonderful to receive this news. Praying for you all. I hope to visit BCU again.
All For God’s Glory.
He will finish the work He started.
