BCU Launching Ceremony

BCU Official Launching Ceremonies, held on 20th October 2014, were honoured by the presence of the Right Rev. Tim Dakin, Bishop of Winchester, UK and his Chaplain Rev. Gavin Foster as well as Bishops of the Province of the Anglican Church of Burundi, a representative from the Ministry of Higher Education, Senior Clergy and representatives of the Laity and many others.

The Launching service was held at the Holy Trinity cathedral of Bujumbura, next to the old cathedral that is to host the university.

The Archbishop of Burundi, the Most Reverend Bernard Ntahoturi said that this is a significant step that the church of Burundi launches. The university will reduce the cost of training ministers, since the church used to send students abroad for theological academic formation. Now the church will be able to educate more ministers effectively and at low cost.

Revd. canon Donald Werner, the Vice-Chancellor, expressed enthusiasms as he is living the implementation of a project he has been working on since a certain number of days back. He trusts this university will grow and have more impact as the days go on.
